Joshua's Little Man 'Stache Bash

We decided on a Little Man 'Stashe Bash theme for Joshua's first birthday. After seeing a lot of inspiring Little Man themed parties in blog land, it just seemed fitting! Initially, I decided on a turquoise and houndstooth scheme but added tigers later on (Joshua was born in the year of the tiger.) for a pop of orange color.

Invitation: The invitation was designed by Joshua's godmother, Chrissy. I gave her a sketch of what I had in mind and she made it come to life with her computer savvy skills, only she made it so much cuter! Joshua has the best godmother ever!

Dessert: The cake was the main dessert. We ordered a two tiered cake from cake M.E.. One tier was cookies and cream and the other tier was red velvet. I wanted the cake to match the invitation and Ria of cake M.E. came up with a sketch and I made a few changes (Okay, maybe more than a few! Thanks for being so patient Ria! I'm picky!) The cake turned out amazing and tasted super scrumptious!
This is the original sketch. I changed the name placement, added the number one, an additional pocket, and a mustache comb sticking out of one of the pockets.

Chrissy made her signature homemade thin mints and also ordered bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We used the pictures from the invitation for the bundtini toppers. We also had chocolate mustache lollipops and chocolate covered Oreos that I made. The chocolate covered Oreos were suppose to be decorated with chocolate transfer sheets in a houndstooth design but I didn't order them in time. Joshua's paternal grandma ordered the assorted desserts, a variety of Filipino desserts. We also had orange gumballs and orange slices. I had planned to make sugar cookies shaped like ties and ordered the cookie cutter and everything but didn't get a chance to make them. I really need to work on not being such a procrastinator! Regardless, everyone at the party enjoyed all of the desserts!

Drinks: I bought a big orange beverage bucket to hold the drinks and bought drinks to match the party. We had Crush, Gatorade, Peach Lemonade, & Hawaiian Punch. We also served water and a variety of different soda. The Wet Your Whiskers sign was designed by my little sister, Megan (She also made the food and dessert labels and welcome sign). The drinks were served in turquoise plastic cups.

Party Favors: I filled baby jars with Reese's Pieces and Almond Joy Pieces, spray painted the lids white, and used a printable that Chrissy designed to glue to the lid.

Decorations: For decorations, I made three banners, two for the dessert table and one for Joshua's booster seat. I also had a bunch of cut out ties taped around the walls. The tables were covered in orange plastic tablecloths with turquoise utensils. We used framed pictures from Joshua's birthday photo shoot as centerpieces and added the party favors to the tables for guests to help themselves. I ordered some balloons to tie on Joshua's booster seat. Joshua's uncle, Jon Jon also ordered three dozen personalized balloons which we scattered across the room!

Smash Cake: The smash cake was made by my best friend's little sister. I think it was a vanilla cake. Joshua barely got to eat it. When we put it in front of him, he looked confused and only dipped his hands in a little. After his grandma put his birthday hat on for him, he was hysterical and knocked down the cake! Sorry Jessy!

Birthday Outfit: I made Joshua a houndstooth tie appliqued shirt. He paired it with khaki cargo shorts and gray vans. His birthday hat was made from houndstooth print scrapbook paper, turquoise ribbon, orange foam paper, and a turquoise pom pom. He hated wearing it but I did managed to get a few pictures!

Entertainment: I made mustache on a stick props and covered two foam boards for two different backgrounds for the photo booth. Everyone enjoyed posing for silly pictures. Next time, I'll have to make the backgrounds wider though! We also brought out Joshua's play mat and blue and orange play balls for the kids. I planned on putting the balls in a pool but we didn't get the chance to blow up the pool in time. I wish we had! The kids seriously threw the balls everywhere!

Food: I wanted to buy the buffet sets for the food trays but at ten dollars a set and over ten dishes, it just wasn't in my budget so the food trays were just lined up on the tables. We served a variety of Vietnamese, Chinese, & Filipino dishes from Tita's Kitchen, Lisa's Desserts, Golden Chopsticks, and Mien Trung. Seriously, there was so much food. I think everyone went up with a box of food with all our leftovers.

Thank you to everyone who helped make my little man's birthday extra special!
