C.R.A.F.T. Package Pals

 July 3, 2012
I signed up for my first craft exchange hosted by Jamie at C.R.A.F.T.. My June package pal assigned to me was Lori from Eclectic Mamma. I was super excited when I received my package in the mail from Lori.
Look at the pretty chevron packing tape! She also included a cute chevron greeting card in the envelope.
Even though I live in a house full of boys, I'm in love with the color pink! Look at all the pink goodies Lori sent me! I didn't get to take individual pictures of everything because there were so many supplies but my package included scrapbook alphabet stickers, adhesive buttons, magnets, color dust, acrylic paint, glitter glue, cupcake liners, a coffee tumbler, a stamp pad, buttons, adhesive gems, a felt flag, and ribbons galore! Did I mention it was all wrapped in pink tissue paper and pink star confetti? Thanks Lori! I can't wait to start using all my new craft supplies!

My package pales in comparison to Lori's but I hope she enjoyed everything regardless. I had a lot of fun putting everything together!
Other than a couple of items, I tried to keep a red theme. Here is a picture of the packaging, baker's twine, and cherry marble magnets.
Lori told me that her kitchen was the most decorated room in her house. Her kitchen has yellow walls with cherry accents. When I googled cherry inspired kitchen, Lori's Pinterest account actually showed up. She had pinned some cherry marble magnets to her board, so I decided to make her some since I had all the materials already.
Lori likes wearing jewel tone colors but likes to pep it up with yellow, bright pink, and neon green so I made her a pretty pink rose ring.

Lori is getting ready for a craft fair and had these pinned to her craft booth board on Pinterest so I made her a set. Thanks for the tutorial Madigan Made!
My son, who just turned two recently had a Barney themed birthday party so I sent Lori extra dinosaur tails from the party for her toddler that loves dinosaurs.

I had a blast participating in my first craft exchange and hope to take part in more in the future. Click on the button below to look at all the C.R.A.F.T. June Package Pals participants!

DIY Cake Stand

 May 6, 2012
I've taken a long hiatus, but I'm back with amazing news. I am pregnant with my baby number two and it's another boy! Come September, I will have my hands full! Today, I'm here to share a DIY Cake Stand that I made for Joshua's upcoming birthday party in June. I will be using them to hold fruit and vegetables cups but you can use them for cake, cupcakes, or anything your heart desires.
I used a burner cover and candlestick from the Dollar Tree and spray painted them white and used E6000 to attach the burner cover and candlestick together. I embellished them with some fun pom pom ribbon. I made two of them for $9!

Christmas Projects

December 29, 2011

It's been awhile since I've last posted. I've been working a lot but am finally enjoying a much needed vacation. Here are a few projects I managed to squeeze in:
We had a Dr. Seuss theme at work. I made a Truffala Tree from Dr. Seuss' 'The Lorax' to decorate my classroom. I love Dr. Seuss books, they are always a hit with my kids!
Here is one of the centerpieces I made last minute for our annual holiday party at work. I had so much fun decorating the gym for the party, the kids had a blast!
Every year we have a different theme for Christmas. This year's theme was gold, brown, cream, and silver. I made these flower book page ornaments to match.
I made a serving try made out of peppermint candy that I found on Pinterest to serve homemade thin mints to my co-workers and to my students' parents.
Even though it didn't turn out perfect, it was super easy to make!

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully I'll have more projects to share with you soon!

Two Tone Contrast Portrait

August 21, 2011

Today, I'm sharing a painting I painted in my Art class in 9th grade (Circa 2002-2003) of my husband when we first started dating. The assignment was to create a two tone contrast portrait. It's amazing how many years have passed by since, still going strong!

Join us Saturdays at tatertotsandjello.com for the weekend wrap up party!

Birthday Cards

August 7, 2011

Joshua's grandma's birthday was on July 29th and his grandpa's birthday was on August 3rd. Here are the birthday cards I whipped up for them with leftover paper from other projects. They were quick and super simple! Happy Birthday!

Joshua's Little Man 'Stache Bash

We decided on a Little Man 'Stashe Bash theme for Joshua's first birthday. After seeing a lot of inspiring Little Man themed parties in blog land, it just seemed fitting! Initially, I decided on a turquoise and houndstooth scheme but added tigers later on (Joshua was born in the year of the tiger.) for a pop of orange color.

Invitation: The invitation was designed by Joshua's godmother, Chrissy. I gave her a sketch of what I had in mind and she made it come to life with her computer savvy skills, only she made it so much cuter! Joshua has the best godmother ever!

Dessert: The cake was the main dessert. We ordered a two tiered cake from cake M.E.. One tier was cookies and cream and the other tier was red velvet. I wanted the cake to match the invitation and Ria of cake M.E. came up with a sketch and I made a few changes (Okay, maybe more than a few! Thanks for being so patient Ria! I'm picky!) The cake turned out amazing and tasted super scrumptious!
This is the original sketch. I changed the name placement, added the number one, an additional pocket, and a mustache comb sticking out of one of the pockets.

Chrissy made her signature homemade thin mints and also ordered bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We used the pictures from the invitation for the bundtini toppers. We also had chocolate mustache lollipops and chocolate covered Oreos that I made. The chocolate covered Oreos were suppose to be decorated with chocolate transfer sheets in a houndstooth design but I didn't order them in time. Joshua's paternal grandma ordered the assorted desserts, a variety of Filipino desserts. We also had orange gumballs and orange slices. I had planned to make sugar cookies shaped like ties and ordered the cookie cutter and everything but didn't get a chance to make them. I really need to work on not being such a procrastinator! Regardless, everyone at the party enjoyed all of the desserts!

Drinks: I bought a big orange beverage bucket to hold the drinks and bought drinks to match the party. We had Crush, Gatorade, Peach Lemonade, & Hawaiian Punch. We also served water and a variety of different soda. The Wet Your Whiskers sign was designed by my little sister, Megan (She also made the food and dessert labels and welcome sign). The drinks were served in turquoise plastic cups.

Party Favors: I filled baby jars with Reese's Pieces and Almond Joy Pieces, spray painted the lids white, and used a printable that Chrissy designed to glue to the lid.

Decorations: For decorations, I made three banners, two for the dessert table and one for Joshua's booster seat. I also had a bunch of cut out ties taped around the walls. The tables were covered in orange plastic tablecloths with turquoise utensils. We used framed pictures from Joshua's birthday photo shoot as centerpieces and added the party favors to the tables for guests to help themselves. I ordered some balloons to tie on Joshua's booster seat. Joshua's uncle, Jon Jon also ordered three dozen personalized balloons which we scattered across the room!

Smash Cake: The smash cake was made by my best friend's little sister. I think it was a vanilla cake. Joshua barely got to eat it. When we put it in front of him, he looked confused and only dipped his hands in a little. After his grandma put his birthday hat on for him, he was hysterical and knocked down the cake! Sorry Jessy!

Birthday Outfit: I made Joshua a houndstooth tie appliqued shirt. He paired it with khaki cargo shorts and gray vans. His birthday hat was made from houndstooth print scrapbook paper, turquoise ribbon, orange foam paper, and a turquoise pom pom. He hated wearing it but I did managed to get a few pictures!

Entertainment: I made mustache on a stick props and covered two foam boards for two different backgrounds for the photo booth. Everyone enjoyed posing for silly pictures. Next time, I'll have to make the backgrounds wider though! We also brought out Joshua's play mat and blue and orange play balls for the kids. I planned on putting the balls in a pool but we didn't get the chance to blow up the pool in time. I wish we had! The kids seriously threw the balls everywhere!

Food: I wanted to buy the buffet sets for the food trays but at ten dollars a set and over ten dishes, it just wasn't in my budget so the food trays were just lined up on the tables. We served a variety of Vietnamese, Chinese, & Filipino dishes from Tita's Kitchen, Lisa's Desserts, Golden Chopsticks, and Mien Trung. Seriously, there was so much food. I think everyone went up with a box of food with all our leftovers.

Thank you to everyone who helped make my little man's birthday extra special!

Rubber Ducky Baby Shower Invite

July 21, 2011

My cousin-in-law's cousin is having a baby boy. She asked me to do her invitations for the baby shower. She didn't have any special requests but knew she wanted the invitations to be in the shape of a bottle or pacifier. I decided to make bottle shaped invitations with a rubber duck theme. To save money, I used paint chips. Luckily, I have the Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge so I was able to cut out the bottle and ducks easily. I also decided to add some yellow ribbon so it didn't look so plain.
I think I took all the blue paint chips at Wal-Mart! I used a couple different shades.
Here's the stack of invites before I added the ribbon.
(50 invitations to hand out & 1 for the mommy to scrap!)
Sorry, the picture is so blurry! I need to work on my photography skills!
I forgot to take a picture of the back of the invite, but here's a screen print!

Congratulations Leslie!
